STAYING TO THE RIGHT

Isa 45:18-19 “For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth; I did not say to the seed of Jacob, ‘Seek Me in vain’; I, the LORD, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.”

God did not hide Himself from mankind nor did He speak in secret. He was constantly revealing His will to His people in ways that there was no doubt that they were from God. Notice the very last sentence, I declare the things that are right!” Can we always trust the words of man? Unfortunately people will intentionally lie. In order to deceive others or to protect themselves they will mask the truth with lies. Even in religion this is a serious problem. Note Galatians 1:6-7, “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.” There are those who would pervert the truth of the gospel. Then there are those who will share what they have heard without researching it for themselves. This has led many people astray because they think it is right but in fact it was false. Often men will assume something to be right when it is not right. “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; But the LORD weighs the hearts” (Proverbs 21:2). The writer also penned in Proverbs 16:2, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” What is right is not determined by men. In matters of religion, only God has “declared the things that are right.”

Many men are like those in Ashdod, Egypt and Samaria who Amos wrote about, for they do not know to do right,’ Says the LORD, ‘Who store up violence and robbery in their palaces’” (Amos 3:10). Someone might ask, “But are not these people Gentiles? We know the Gentiles were not accountable to the Law of Moses. Therefore how can these folks be responsible for what they do not know?” Notice what the inspired apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:18-20, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.” Basically Paul wrote that God had declared the things that are right unto the Gentiles. They just refused to accept it.

Peter reminded the Christians not to be like the ungodly, “…having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children. They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;” (2 Peter 2:14-15). Notice that these individuals have forsaken the right way. We have already seen that God has declared the right way, so these people have forsaken the revelation of God!

STAYING TO THE RIGHT IS STAYING WITH GOD!
